Biography

Born and raised in Las Vegas, Jeanette Marquez was a first-generation college and law student. Because of her family’s hard work and sacrifices, she had the opportunity to pursue the career of her dreams.

Jeanette attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for her undergraduate degree where she majored in Philosophy with a Concentration in Law & Justice and graduated magna cum laude. Based on her undergraduate academic performance, she was awarded a full tuition scholarship to William S. Boyd School of Law.

While in law school, she was the only person in her class invited onto both the Mock Trial and Moot Court teams where she traveled the nation representing her school. Jeanette’s most meaningful work was in her law school’s Survivor Representation and Advocacy Clinic, a clinic focused on combating both personal and state violence. As a student attorney, she represented survivors of domestic violence in obtaining protection orders and did clemency work.

Jeanette pursued a law degree because she has always wanted to help empower people to regain control over their lives when they have been wronged. By joining Bighorn Law, she will be able to do just that. Jeanette is also fluent in Spanish and she is committed to serving the Spanish-speaking community to promote equal access to justice.

Outside of work, her hobbies include taking cycling classes, watching reality tv shows, and spending time with her 1 year old Golden Retriever named Frankie.
