BIOGRAPHY

Ryan Loosvelt practices in the field of personal injury litigation and revels in obtaining justice for his injured clients, vindicating their rights, maximizing their recovery, helping to provide for their future, and securing their peace of mind.

Ryan hails from the state of Michigan and takes great pride in his Detroit-area upbringing and schooling. He graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor for undergraduate work, the University of San Diego School of Law where he obtained his Juris Doctorate, and studied at the Barcelona Institute of International Comparative Law for a semester during law school obtaining a certification in international studies.

Ryan was a commercial lawyer for the first part of his legal career, and one of the first from his law school class to make partner at an international law firm with over 25 offices worldwide. He also worked for national and regional firms before transitioning to personal injury law, his true passion.

Ryan has been practicing personal injury litigation for many years, enthusiastically represents and advocates for his clients, and has obtained numerous favorable life-changing resolutions for his clients. He handles personal injury claims including automobile, trucking, and ride share accidents, professional negligence suits, premises liability claims, other catastrophic injuries and accidents, and product liability claims.

In his free time, Ryan enjoys reading, hiking the Red Rock trails, exercising at the gym, and spending time with his family, friends, and his Boston Terrier.

Expertise | Representative Results

• Obtained over $6 million policy limit and sanctions payment resolution in a premises liability case against building owner where client fell through an office roof, sustained a burst fracture of his spine among other injuries, resulting in the need for lifelong future care. After successfully defeating exclusive remedy and summary judgment challenges, obtained an in limine order the week before trial excluding defendant’s liability expert, all defense future medical opinions, and the sub rosa footage, resulting in defendant doubling its prior offer to the full policy limit.

• Obtained a $2 million judgment for a client who sustained a moderate traumatic brain injury along with back injuries, where a large video board fell on him as a result of a defective design and negligent maintenance and repair of the video board at international trade show against the defendants show manager, product designer, and maintenance vendor.

• Obtained a $1.4 million dollar resolution against construction contractor involving a multi-vehicle collision on the 215 freeway in a construction zone due to defendant’s deficient traffic control planning and implementation, for client who was cited at fault as speeding more than 10 mph over the limit. Compelled punitive damage financial statements and excluded defendant’s traffic control planning expert before case
settled.

• Obtained several approximate $1 million – $1.4 million resolutions in cases involving ride share companies, go-kart incidents, trucking accidents, other motor vehicle collisions including major and low impacts, premises liability claims, product liability, trampoline parks, and also obtained multiple damages-capped medical malpractice settlements.

• Successfully obtained Nevada Supreme Court decision denying defendants writ petition seeking to dismiss professional negligence complaint for alleged deficiencies in NRS 41A.071 pre-complaint expert affidavit, later resulting in full general damages cap resolution against two defendant doctors and the defendant facility.

• Successfully obtained summary judgment ruling in insurance coverage action limiting client primary insurer’s policy limits to $1 million as opposed to a $2 million limit, thereby precluding $25 million claim by excess co-insurer alleging bad faith refusal to settle for $1.5 million within an alleged $2 million policy limits.

• Successfully obtained $1.2 million judgment and $223,966.31 attorney’s fee and cost award for Los Angeles based Grammy-nominated music producer against three music labels, as well as joint personal liability against their owner under alter ego theory, for copyright and breach of producer contract lawsuit.

• Successfully represented international English corporation doing business in India against disgruntled shareholders based in Mauritius overturning injunctive relief and receivership allowing client’s $30 million sale of interest in Indian airline to proceed, while resolving dissenters’ rights litigation arising from client’s reverse merger.

• Represented Fortune 500 corporation against two serial cyber squatters. Protected client’s interest by obtaining a permanent injunction, securing return of over 20 domain names, and recovered $1 million in damages and fees.

• Successfully represented foreign client in federal Hague Convention trial regarding the abduction of her child across international borders, resulting in the return of the child and global resolution of controversies.
